I have finally ditched the lockdown weight and started dating
DEAR DEIDRE: DURING the pandemic I couldn’t stop eating and the pounds kept piling on.
I’m 5ft 10in, but ballooned by more than 5st and when lockdown ended I couldn’t bear to go out.
Being grossly overweight, I couldn’t see how I was ever going to meet that special person.
I was a 32-year-old male and no one seemed to appreciate how low I felt.
But you encouraged me to make small changes, and instead of focusing on my weight, advised me to aim to improve my fitness and strength.
One year on and I’ve lost half my lockdown weight.

I haven’t done any crazy diets – instead I focused on getting out and walking regularly and eating more fresh food.
I feel so much better, physically and mentally.
I’ve also started dating a lovely woman.
It’s early days but so far so good.
