Thank you

You helped me cope with my life changing diagnosis

DEAR DEIDRE: When I was diagnosed with early- onset Alzheimer’s aged just 56, I was terrified.

I had no idea what would happen to me, and I was also worried sick about my partner, who is 53, and how she would cope looking after me.

I felt abandoned by my doctors who had given me no information or sources of support.

So I wrote to you.

You were so understanding in your reply to me.

You gave me the details for the Alzheimer’s Society (alzheimers.org.uk, 0333 150 3456) and sent me your Help For Carers support pack for my partner.

You pushed me to contact my doctor too.

When I wrote several times about various issues, such as about our finances, you took the time to help, and on each occasion researched what we would need.

Life is difficult and getting harder but, for me, you are a light in a dark world. You made me feel less alone.
