I was ready to start first bisexual relationship but then I was cut off without any warning
DEAR DEIDRE: THE thought of coming out as bisexual is a scary prospect so when I met a closeted bisexual guy online who felt the same as me, it was the first time I’d ever confided in anyone.
I’m 33 and he’s 34. He had a girlfriend when we first started talking over a year ago. We spoke every day and shared most things with each other.
I supported him when he cheated on his girlfriend by kissing another guy, and when he had issues at work.
Perhaps naively I thought that when he ended his relationship, we’d be friends, but he said he was anxious and needed to be left alone.
He then cut me off without any warning and has not spoken to me since.
I knew where he worked and one day decided to try to talk to him after work.

He seemed taken aback and wasn’t expecting me.
I think he realised how much he’d hurt me.
He told me he was out to his friends and family and told everyone he’s bisexual, but felt he had to cut me off.
I am crushed and devastated as I thought we’d go on this journey together.
I am happy for him but feel abandoned. I’m gutted.

DEIDRE SAYS: Try not to take it personally. Often when friendships break up it’s because one person is on a different path to the other.
If he doesn’t want to talk about why he’s written you off so suddenly, it suggests he doesn’t understand how he’s feeling.
There’s not much you can do except keep busy, meet others and know this says more about his issues.
I understand how scared you are about coming out but you don’t owe it to anyone to come out until you are ready.
