Everything has gone wonky in the bedroom

DEAR DEIDRE: My sex life has taken a nosedive because I’ve somehow damaged my penis.
This is now really affecting my marriage.
I’m 67, my wife is 65 and we’ve been married for 20 years and love each other.
We had great sex until a few months ago, when I could tell there was something wrong with my manhood.
It now leans to the left. I have tried Viagra but it doesn’t work any more.
We have tried different positions without success. It is proving impossible to have sex.
My wife says not to worry but I find it so frustrating that I can’t satisfy her like I used to.
I have been to my doctor and he has referred me to a specialist but I am worried. I don’t know if anything can be done to help.
I’m so low about the possibility I might face a future without a sex life.

DEIDRE SAYS: This sounds like Peyronie’s disease which causes the penis to shorten and bend.
It isn’t uncommon in men of your age and is something which can be treated.
Even if it turns out intercourse may not be possbile any longer it doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy being intimate.
There’s information and support through British Dupuytren’s Society (dupuytrens-society. org.uk). My support pack Great Sex At Any Age explains how you can still make each other feel loved.
