LIVING IN FEAR

Abusive neighbour demanded we pay his rent or he will kill us

DEAR DEIDRE: MY neighbour demanded money from me to pay his rent.

He threatened to kill me, my wife and children if I didn’t do as he asked. It was terrifying.

I am 38 and my wife is 36.

Our children are eight and six.

This neighbour lives in the upstairs flat.

I managed to record his threats and the insults he hurled our way.

I called the police and they came out and arrested him.

They confirmed to us a few days later that he was under the influence of class-A drugs.

They released him after two days but we haven’t heard anything more from him.

I have informed the council, and filled in two reports but so far they are ignoring the problem – despite promising they would deal with it as a priority.

We are devastated and terrified.

We fear for our lives every day.

I sleep fully clothed every night so I can defend my family if we are attacked.
