I feel trapped by my money grabbing daughter

DEAR DEIDRE: LIVING with my daughter and son-in-law leaves me feeling trapped.

They’re taking my money and treating me like a prisoner.

I lost all my belongings in a fire, which started in my neighbour’s house and spread to mine.

I was insured but shortly after the fire, I fell down the stairs at my daughter’s house and broke my ankle.

It was an accident but my daughter says that I can’t be trusted to “not have a fall”.

I’m a fit and well 71-year-old woman. My daughter is 48 and she is married to a man who is 50 and he runs a car showroom.

He’s successful and, as a result, thinks he knows everything.

They both control me. They like the finer things in life. I pay them over £1,000 a month for bed and board, which I know they enjoy.

They won’t let me find anywhere else to live.

My only joy is a supermarket trip once a fortnight. Other than that, I’m stuck in the house.
