I’m 60 and still trying to find my way in life
DEAR DEIDRE: My 60th birthday is looming, but it fills me with nothing but despair. Life has not turned out the way I would have hoped.
I have achieved nothing and feel bitter and jealous of everyone I know who has succeeded.

DEIDRE SAYS: You’re not a failure. Milestone birthdays often cause us to pause, take stock of our lives and how things are going.
Please don’t compare yourself to others - you never know what is really going on in other people’s lives and some of the most seemingly successful people are crippled with depression, anxiety and self-loathing.
Don’t measure yourself based on the achievements of others and instead start thinking about your own goals.
What is it that you love doing? Where do you think you could see yourself working?
You do not have to be academic to be successful in life. My support pack Raising Self Esteem will help you to find more confidence in yourself.
