My best friend’s ex is threatening to post her nude photos online
DEAR DEIDRE: MY best friend’s ex is threatening to post her nude photos online if she doesn’t pay up.
It’s fair to say I was never his biggest fan, but I could never have imagined he would do something like this.
I’m 27, she’s 26 and we’ve been friends since kids. She and her ex-boyfriend were together for two years before they had a nasty break-up two months ago.
She hadn’t heard from him at all until she received a vicious text message from him last week.
At first, she didn’t want to tell me, but when I saw a text on her phone she told me what had been going on.
It turns out he has been demanding £1,000 from her, and has said if he doesn’t receive it he’ll post all of her naked pictures online.
I’ve tried everything I can to convince her to stand up to him and call the police, but she keeps refusing out of fear. I can tell she’s considering paying him.
All I want to do is help, but I feel completely powerless.

If your friend’s ex were to share or upload these photos without her consent he would be breaking the law and could face imprisonment.
While you can’t control what she does, you can speak to her and explain the severity of what this man is doing.
If she doesn’t contact the police, what’s stopping him from taking the money and uploading these photos anyway?
