HARD TASK

Every time I get aroused, my erection refuses to go down for over an hour

DEAR DEIDRE: EVERY time I get aroused, my erection refuses to go down for more than an hour, no matter what I do.

While it doesn’t hurt, it is starting to seriously affect my life and I’m left worrying about the next time the problem will crop up.

I’m 35 and I first noticed this issue when I was having sex with my girlfriend two months ago.

Initially, I thought  it was a one-off, but it has happened several times since and it’s becoming clear that there is something wrong with me.

It doesn’t matter what time of day it is, or what I’m doing, I’m prone to getting random erections that won’t go down.

I’ve tried everything from masturbating and drinking lots of water to doing exercises, but nothing works.

It’s starting to make me avoid the gym, shopping or going into the office.

What if this can’t be fixed? Please help.

DEIDRE SAYS: If you’re struggling with erections lasting more than a few hours,  you need to seek help from your doctor.

You could be suffering from priapism, which is caused when the blood flow through the arteries of the penis isn’t working properly.

Make an appointment with your GP and explain your concerns. They may be able to refer you to a urologist, who can examine this issue.

My support pack Erection Problems can also help.
