My close friends went away on a lads holiday without me
DEAR DEIDRE: FRIENDS of mine are denying that they’ve been on holiday together but their pictures are all over social media.
I’m a man of 30 and I had a tough childhood. I never fitted in.
At 18, I left home and went to college where I found a group of guys who I thought really connected with me.
There were four of us who did stuff together.
But it all changed after a pub crawl with my mates when I invited another colleague from work.
I’m not sure what happened that night but since then, they seemed to drop me.

I’ve just gone on my colleague’s Instagram profile and there are five pictures of him with my mates on holiday. It looks like they’re in Spain.
I called him and asked him about it. He said he’d been on holiday but he’d run into the others by coincidence.
What rubbish. I’m feeling as if he’s gaslighting me.
DEIDRE SAYS: I’m so sorry.
It must feel very hurtful. Losing friendships can be just as hard as losing a romantic relationship – even more so at times.
Is there one person in this group who you can trust?
If so, ask whether you’ve offended somebody, because you’d rather know.
If you have, you can make your apologies if you feel it is appropriate. But if they don’t welcome you back, you may have to accept that it’s time to move on.
You can find like-minded people for friendship through meetup.com.
