Dad only seemed interested in sleeping with other women even when mum needed him

DEAR DEIDRE: I WAS devastated when I learned my mum had cancer, but Dad only seemed interested in having sex with other women.

He was messing around until the day she died.

I’m a 15 year-old boy and I hate my dad for it.

Mum died of cancer and we didn’t have a chance to make nice memories ­– it was all so quick.

Mum would say to me that he was “working late” but even I knew he was meeting women.

I recently saw messages on his phone from a dating site. I knew his passwords and saw conversations between him and other women arranging sex.

I can’t confide in my other relatives.

I feel Dad is betraying me as well as Mum’s memory. Should I confront him?

DEIDRE SAYS:  You could, but he’s entitled to a private life so ignore his phone from now on.

Tell him a message flashed up and you know about his affairs. It may be a wake-up call that some sensitivity and diplomacy wouldn’t go amiss where you’re concerned.
