I don’t want to seem desperate but I might text my ex to ask for a second chance
DEAR DEIDRE: SINCE my ex-girlfriend dumped me, I’ve really missed her and want to contact her – but I don’t want to look desperate.
We broke up over a misunderstanding and I think we should try again.
I’m 25 and she’s 24.
We were together for a year but she ended the relationship because I said something stupid.
She also felt I just wanted to have fun and wasn’t serious about the future. It’s not true. I wanted to settle down with her.
Things went wrong when she had a pregnancy scare.
I thought she was on the Pill, so I was shocked and didn’t react well. I called her manipulative.
Even though I apologised, she said the relationship was over.
That was three months ago. Now I really want to win her back.

I think we had something special and, at the very least, want to be friends. But I’ve read that if the person who gets dumped is the first to message, it massages the other person’s ego.
Should I wait for her to contact me?
DEIDRE SAYS: Forget what you’ve read.
There’s no point playing silly games.
If you haven’t heard from her for three months, it’s unlikely she’s going to get in touch.
So if you want another chance, contact her and see if you can arrange to talk.
At least this way you will know where you stand and can move forward with your life.
My support pack Mend Your Broken Heart should help you to get over this.
