My long-distance lover has cut me off suddenly without explanation

DEAR DEIDRE: A WOMAN I was talking to for more than a year has blocked my number suddenly.

We had been getting on so well and were talking about getting married.

Our relationship was long-distance – we live 200 miles apart. I’m 25 and she’s 23.

We used to video call each other and would message constantly on social media, but then she blocked me on everything except Instagram.

The video and voice calls stopped overnight.

Things had been great, then she went away on a family holiday for a few weeks and when she returned she distanced herself from me.

Our relationship felt very weird for a couple of weeks and then she sent one last message saying she didn’t want to waste my time.

It is as if the last year meant nothing to her and I have been cut out of her life.

I am hurt and I don’t know what to think as I can’t contact her so have no answers.

DEIDRE SAYS: It sounds like she has taken the coward’s way out.

As you have no means of contacting her it would be best to accept this is over and move on.

Perhaps she simply had a change of heart or her parents pressured her into giving you up while she was away with them.

If she’s still living at home and reliant on them she would not want to go against them.
