DEAR DEIDRE: I FEAR my daughter will flunk her A levels if she continues seeing her flashy boyfriend.
She has always been a bright girl and has ambitions of being a solicitor.
But her recent mock results show that she’s not at all prepared for her exams.
My daughter is 17 and her boyfriend is 19. There’s been a big change in her since they started dating.
She’s less enthusiastic about college and more interested in seeing him, or when he’s going to answer her latest DM.
I’ve tried to get to know her boyfriend by inviting him over for dinner, but he never shows.

As hard as it is, don’t bad mouth her boyfriend as this will only alienate her.
Support your daughter with gentle guidance while keeping your relationship with her as open as possible.
She will then see in time that you have her best interests in mind.
