Ruth’s suspicions over Andrew come true when debt collectors knock at the door
DEIDRE SAYS: Dear Andrew... IT is really scary when we lose our job and income.
But there is no reason why you can’t find other work and start earning again.
When it comes to outstanding debts the worst thing anyone can do is bury their head in the sand.
You’ve seen how things deteriorate when you go into denial about owing money.
So from now on make a pledge to face up to your issues and get on top of a manageable repayment plan.
You’ll feel so much better once you have this in place.
Your first step is to contact all your creditors and let them know you have lost your job.
Ask them to consider delaying or reducing your debts.
Normally the people you owe money to will bend over backwards to accommodate you, as they are better off getting their money back slowly, and a little at a time, than not at all.
My support pack Solving Debt Problems has plenty more advice and recommendations you should find useful.
