Rob’s son has had enough and wants to move out

DEIDRE SAYS: Dear Rob... Harry is right. Beverly and Sofia are taking over and understandably he’s opted to leave.

You need to take a firm line now – talk to Beverly and draw some clear boundaries.

For example, if she has any issues with your son, she needs to come through you.

And by the same token, you will go through her with any problems you have with Sofia.

Unless you are prepared to lose your son, calmly let her know that if her treatment continues, you will have to reassess your relationship with her.

Explain, if Harry is unhappy, then you are unhappy. I hope it won’t be too late for Harry to see you are starting to stand up for him.

Blended families can work well when there is mutual respect.
