My daughters boyfriend has a bad reputation of violence against women

DEAR DEIDRE: MY daughter has been totally taken in by her boyfriend and believes everything he tells her.

I worry about his influence. I am her 74-year-old father. My daughter is 48 and her partner is 46.

They have been together for a year.

We visited them recently and throughout the day he was receiving messages from his ex-girlfriend.

I’ve heard rumours that he has a history of violence against women.

He has denied everything but tells so many lies.

He told my daughter he was going to buy her a car and take her on an exotic holiday, but nothing materialised.

He comes across as normal but there is something not right. I have caught him lying a couple of times.

I can’t persuade my daughter to leave. She says she likes him, but I am worried about her safety.
