HARD TO PLEASE

My Tinder date never spoke to me again after I couldn’t get an erection

DEAR DEIDRE: I MET a woman on a dating site and things were great on our date – then I took her to bed and couldn’t perform.

I’m a man of 58 and I take medication for diabetes and some other health issues.

I thought I'd have something special with this last lady but the sex was a disaster

My ex-wife and I got divorced five years ago.

I’ve had a few relationships since but I’ve noticed that my erections are getting weaker as time goes on.

This last lady I met was 50 and I thought we’d have something special but when the sex was a disaster she didn’t want to know.

I’ve not heard from her since.

Can you offer any advice?

DEIDRE SAYS: Diabetes can affect sexual performance because high blood sugar or high blood pressure or blood fats can damage the nerve endings in the penis.

It isn’t always the case though. If it’s happened before, it may be down to performance anxiety.

MORE FROM DEAR DEIDRE

Getting to know somebody before you have sex is always recommended as it will build your confidence and you’ll therefore put less pressure on yourself.

My support pack Solving Erection Problems may help but you’ll find additional support from Diabetes UK (, 0345 123 2399).
