BIG LITTLE SECRETS

I didn’t even know my partner had a credit card – or £7000 worth of debt

DEAR DEIDRE: I DON’T think my partner would have ever told me about his £7,000 debt if I hadn’t discovered it myself.

He’s 36, I’m 37, and we’ve been together for three years.

What’s got to me is the fact he’s lied to me for months

Last week, a letter arrived with the words “final notice” printed on the front.

I sort out all our bills, so I thought it must have been a mistake.

But it was a default notice, stating that my partner owed the bank £150 for a missed payment for his credit card – one I didn’t know he had.

When I confronted him about it, he admitted that he was in a “little bit of trouble”.

He’s overdrawn on both his bank accounts and owes £5,000 on his credit card.
