My boyfriend’s parents are racist and it’s making me question our future
DEAR DEIDRE: I SIT at dinner with my boyfriend’s parents and have to bite my tongue. They are racist and homophobic and I’m not sure how much longer I can live under the same roof.
The problem is I have nowhere else to go. I moved in before lockdown because of arguments with my stepfather. I’m a woman of 23.
His dad loves Trump and Brexit and everything I’m against.

He’s made racist or homophobic slurs before but when I’ve said “You can’t say that” he just answers, “I can say what I like. I’m old.”
It’s just no excuse. Heaven help us if we ever have a child who is gay or friendly with kids who aren’t white.
I do love my boyfriend with all my heart, but his parents are terrible bigots.
