I want to beat up my girlfriend’s ex because he treated her so badly
DEAR DEIDRE: I WANT to beat up my girlfriend’s ex because he hurt her.
I’m 22. Before we met, my girlfriend, who’s 21, was in a toxic relationship with a guy of 25 who told her he loved her but just used her for sex.
Even after they split up, she went back with him a few times, and she says they also kissed at a party.

We have now been together for six months and I love her more than anything.
She’s my best friend, my family adores her and we are so happy together.
But I can’t stop thinking about her ex and how much he hurt her and used her.
It’s burning away at me. I feel like I need to get revenge on him, but I know this isn’t healthy.
How can I stop these feelings?
DEIDRE SAYS: It is natural to feel protective of someone you love. But your girlfriend has put this relationship behind her and is now with you.
Beating up her ex might make you feel better but it won’t help her.
