CORONA FEARS

I’m so scared of catching Covid at work it’s ruining my relationship

DEAR DEIDRE: COVID terrifies me. I’m a bus driver in London and so many people are ignoring the rules that going to work each day feels like walking across a minefield.

I’m 28 and have a vulnerable wife, who’s 27, plus a three-month-old baby at home.

I'm sick of people being so selfish and breaking the rules

I want to keep them safe but that feels like an impossible task.

Now I am not sleeping properly and find myself snapping at everyone. The anxiety is affecting my relationship.

Why can’t people follow the rules and stop being selfish? Why should I be put at constant risk?

DEIDRE SAYS: You have very real concerns over your safety and that of your family. As a key worker, you are potentially being exposed to the virus on a daily basis.

Keep doing all you can to keep yourself safe. Wear a mask, keep your distance, wash your hands and remind passengers to do the same when you can. Talk to your wife too so she knows how you are feeling and can offer you reassurance.

My support pack on Nervous Stress has lots of suggestions on how to stay calm. Also contact the mental health charity Mind () and get its advice on coping with going to work during coronavirus.
