BABY GRIEF

I miscarried two weeks ago and my friends think I should already be over it

DEAR DEIDRE: TWO weeks ago I lost the baby I was expecting.

Because it’s coming up to Christmas, everyone seems to think I would be over it by now. But I would have been three months pregnant on Christmas Day.

Family and friends say things like, “You can always try again”, “There was something wrong with the baby” or: “Everything happens for a reason.”

But it only makes me more sad that my body couldn’t handle it.

I’m heartbroken and I cry every day.

I long for my partner to put his arms around me but he just says the same things as everyone else.

DEIDRE SAYS: It’s natural to feel this way.

Your partner and family mean well but do not understand you need to mourn.
