I accidentally stumbled across my dad’s plans to remarry – but it’s news to me
DEAR DEIDRE: I STUMBLED on a letter from a hotel confirming that my dad is getting married there – but it’s news to me.
I’m a married woman of 35 and Dad is 55. He divorced my mum five years ago.

We suspected Dad of having an affair when he completely changed after a work trip, but he denied it.
Recently I went into his flat to borrow some tools and I saw a letter addressed to him and a woman.
It showed their wedding plans, the name of the celebrant and even the menus they’ve chosen.
The wedding is at Easter, so I asked Dad if he’d be free for a family holiday, but he just said, “Oh, I can’t.” Should I come clean and tell him what I’ve seen?
DEIDRE SAYS: Probably best, as you can’t unsee it.
I can imagine this is raking up very mixed feelings for you and clearly your dad is defensive about his new relationship.
But remember – we can’t judge others’ relationships from the outside.
Would you like to be there to see your dad remarry?
If so, tell him, but be ready to support your mum – you can be sympathetic to how she feels without attacking your dad.
