My dad has moved his younger male lover into our family home
DEAR DEIDRE: MY dad is putting his male lover before me and my family.
I am a man of 37 and my dad is 66. My mum died ten years ago. This man, who he has moved into our family home, is only 31 and I feel repulsed over it.

Dad is obsessed with this guy and lets him live rent-free in our house. He buys him all his food and cigarettes and drink.
We’ve tried to accept him but he got Dad absolutely off his head on drink at a family barbecue. He couldn’t even stand up.
This guy then stopped off at an off-licence on the way home for more alcohol to drink when they got home. I worry he’s trying to kill my dad to get his hands on his estate.
We all hate him but Dad won’t have a word said against him. What has possessed him to act like this at his age?
DEIDRE SAYS: Maybe your dad feels he must follow his own desires before it’s too late.
Tread carefully and be sure not to sound homophobic or prejudiced over the age gap.
Tell your dad you love him and understand he must lead his own life, but say you are worried about him, and his partner seeming to take advantage of him.
Even if he doesn’t immediately agree, it should make him think about the situation.
