My wife’s family stole our wedding money – but she backed them over me

DEAR DEIDRE: THE debts I have racked up to pay for my wedding are poisoning my marriage.

We got married two years ago. My wife and her family wanted a big wedding, so I took out a £20,000 loan to pay for it.

She is 27 and I’m 33. We have a one-year-old son.

We didn’t have a gift list and most of our 150 guests put cash in their wedding card.

A mate saw my wife’s dad and her brother steal most of them but my wife backed her family over me, though they always have money troubles.

That money would have helped repay the loan. Now I’m having to pay it back on my own. What can I do?
