My partner and I are desperate for a baby but nothing is happening
DEAR DEIDRE: MY partner and I have been trying for a baby for six months now but nothing is happening.
We are both 27 and she has a four-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
I would like us to have a child together. My partner wasn’t keen as we’d only been together for a year but she agreed to come off the Pill.
We really love one another and have an active sex life, so I’m scared the problem is me.

DEIDRE SAYS: First, do ask your partner again how she feels about another baby. It will mean a lot of hard work and stress, most of which is likely to fall on her.
Don’t pressure her into becoming a reluctant mum. It’s not fair to anyone.
If she’s happy to go ahead, don’t panic. Few couples conceive instantly.
