I could have an attention disorder as I struggle to commit – but I’m too worried to see a doctor
DEAR DEIDRE: BECAUSE I get bored so easily I struggle to commit to anything.
I lasted no more than two years in any of the few jobs I have had. I even stopped having driving lessons because I lost interest.
I’m a guy of 31 and my girlfriend is 28. We’ve been together almost a year.
She thinks I may have an attention disorder but I worry that seeing a doctor would be wasting their time. I do get bad mood swings.
The slightest things annoy me, then the next minute I’m happy. I don’t want to look back and wonder, “What if I did have something?” I’m unsure what to do.

DEIDRE SAYS: The symptoms you describe could be due to ADD (attention deficit disorder) but there are other reasons, including stress, that might explain your lack of concentration.
See your GP. You won’t be wasting their time and a diagnosis can be helpful.
