ON THE MOVE

I’m obsessed with moving house but my husband is getting tired of it

DEAR DEIDRE: I’M obsessed with moving house and am looking around now to make my 45th move.

The market may have ground to a halt but I’m on property websites non-stop.

My husband is lovely but is getting tired of this. It’s causing money problems, too, because I buy new furniture to match whatever style of home we’re in.

Why do I do this? I had a normal childhood, in just one house. It’s like I’m permanently searching for happiness – but it’s only been since I’ve been with my husband.

We’ve been together for 20 years, after I had two violent relationships. We’re in our fifties.

DEIDRE SAYS: It’s likely you keep feeling driven to change your surroundings because your inner emotional turmoil, from those two earlier abusive relationships, feels too painful and risky to face.

You can’t leave the hurt behind even though you are now safe with a lovely husband.
