I got terribly drunk at pal’s wedding and had Brexit bust-up with his father-in-law
DEAR DEIDRE: I GOT horribly drunk at a pal’s wedding last month and had a bust-up over Brexit with his father-in-law.
My wife says I need to apologise to the whole family but will that just make everything worse?

I am 31. My mate was in the same class at school. He has married a lovely girl but her background is very different.
I made good use of the free bar. It was two hours before we got anything to eat at the reception and I was well away.
The bride’s father was talking loudly by the bar about his views over Brexit.
I shouldered my way into the group and let rip about how stupid he was.
The group he was talking to tried to intervene and I got worse, apparently, effing and blinding.
People tried to shush me because of the children around but I didn’t care.
I can’t remember much of this but I felt terrible when I woke up the next day and my wife told me what I’d said and done.
I apologised to my mates and they’ve all been very understanding, though I’m sure they will take the mick when we next meet up.
But what about my mate and the bride – who are now on honeymoon in the Caribbean? And what about her parents?
Dragging it all up again when they get back might make it seem a bigger deal than it really was.
Or should I say how sorry I am for embarrassing myself?
DEIDRE SAYS: Try to find out the home address of the bride’s parents.
You must have some mutual connection if you think hard enough.
Send the bride’s mother a big bunch of flowers with a note saying you are so sorry and hope it didn’t spoil her or her daughter’s big day.
I bet her old man wasn’t totally sober either.
