Apology — Aurelie Eboue

Our online article 'Arsenal Star Emanuel Eboue reveals he is desperate to play football again after riches-to-rags plight that's left him suicidal' (5 February 2018) was based on an interview Mr Eboue gave on French TV show, Canal Plus.

We reported allegations that his ex-wife Aurelie Eboue had abandoned Mr Eboue leaving him financially destitute, had forced him to sign documents in her favour and had refused him access to his children.

We now accept that these allegations are untrue. We sincerely apologise to Aurelie for the distress and embarrassment caused.

We have also agreed to pay her damages and her reasonable legal costs.
