Lee Westwood wins £48k on day two of Cheltenham with incredible Super Heinz bet
GOLF star Lee Westwood won £48,000 on day two of the Cheltenham Festival thanks to an incredible Super Heinz bet.
The British star, 45, took to Instagram to share his ridiculously impressive bet, winning close to £50,000 from a £240 stake.
Westwood is becoming something of a betting supremo too, having enjoyed an incredible Cheltenham a year ago.
He won each of the first nine races at the festival, before going on to win 11 out of 12 in a bizarre run of victories, tallying £20,678.
But this year he did even better, winning six of the seven singles - as well as a host of doubles, trebles, four and five-folds and even a six-fold.
Westwood was indebted to big wins from the likes of Altior and Tiger Roll, as well as Envoi Allen, Band Of Outlaws, City Island and Topofthegame.
What is a Super Heinz bet?
A Super Heinz Bet is a bet on SEVEN selections taking part in different events.
It consists of of 21 doubles, 35 trebles, 35 four-folds, 21 five-folds, 7 six-folds, and a seven-fold accumulator totalling 120 bets.
At least two selections must win in order to earn any returns.
And the golfer can count himself somewhat lucky, after day two was given the go ahead after passing a precautionary inspection.
Westwood will likely be reinvesting some of those winnings into day three of the Cheltenham action.
Defi Du Seuil is one big-name on the list for tomorrow, taking part in the JLT Novices' Chase at 1.30pm.
