The star jockey knows how to dress for the big occasion

Sun Racing ambassador and jockey fashionista Megan Nicholls is on hand to talk you through four of her best outfits for the Cheltenham Festival.

The star rider will be sporting everything from tartan to camel as she looks forward to strutting her stuff at the greatest show on turf. All clothes from Holland Cooper, both bags from Fairfax and Favour and fascinators from Alice White.

Champions Day - Tues 12

As you can see, this is quite a striking number!

The contrast of black against white is a real eye-opener and it’s the perfect piece to start you off at Cheltenham.

It’s flexible, too, as you have the choice of wearing a faux fur scarf - and with the weather forecast looking pretty shoddy, I would strongly recommend it!

I’ve gone with short boots but you can splash out and try some longer boots or even just stick with shoes.

Alice White has made the hat bespoke for the outfit and it’s fabulous, so if you can find a similar type then you’re in business.

I’m wearing the white polo neck here, but could easily adopt the black polo too.

What’s more, if you take the outfit apart you can wear it with jeans as a more casual look for after racing.

It’s a really fun piece and should definitely make you stand out from the crowd.

Ladies' Day - Weds 13

This is definitely one of my favourite outfits and I’m standing alongside one of my favourite horses - the lovely Present Man.

Funnily enough, I liked it a lot more than I thought I would once I put it all on.

The cape style is new to me but it’s definitely a look I’ll be trying again in the future as it’s soft, sleek and light as a feather.

It’s not too heavy, not too big and is the perfect addition for someone at the races.

I’ve worn it with the Holland Cooper polo neck and matching fedora hat - a combination I would advise as the colours bring plenty of substance.

Luckily I bought boots in exactly the same tint last year, and they go really nicely with the rest of the piece.

The oxblood hue brightens it all up a bit and it’s the kind of outfit that allows you to put a few layers underneath if you get a bit chilly.

It’s definitely more winter wear but could work in hotter temperatures, too.

I’ve gone with some dark red lipstick to complement the general tone of the piece and I would advise anyone wearing the outfit next week to do the same!

St Patrick's Thursday - Thurs 14

I love this outfit.

The beige is an understated look, but it’s one that I think works very well.

Alice White again made the hat and it complements the coat superbly, whilst jazzing it up at the same time.

With this one I reckon you should go with beige boots or black boots over the knee as they give it a classy edge.

They keep you nice and warm and allow you to wear trousers or a skirt underneath.

I went with a black polo but you can get away with a chocolate/dark brown colour instead - either works.

The clutch bag from Fairfax and Favor is a cracking addition and the darker brown hue of the suede blends nicely with the rest of the piece.

It’s a really simple outfit but definitely brings an element of class.

Gold Cup Day - Fri 15

I’m wearing this for Gold Cup day as it’s the final afternoon and you’ve got to go out with a bang!

With the Knightsbridge tartan bringing a lot of colour, the hat is deliberately a much simpler design than in the other pieces.

The black long boots that go slightly over the knee are really comfortable and ideal for a fourth day of trekking around a racecourse.

You can wear the coat, which is a bit shorter than the Camel, with the matching skirt and scarf - the overall effect is quite bold and the black of the top really stands out.

That’s not to say you can’t wear the piece without the coat as it looks equally as stylish just in the top and the skirt.

We matched it with a Fairfax and Favor bag and the bigger size complements the rest of the outfit nicely.

If you wanted to, you could wear it with leather jeans which also looks pretty classy.

It’s great for Gold Cup day.
