He's hit the ground sprinting winning nine of his 11 games in all competitions, blowing teams away at times.

After an impressive thumping of Leverkusen in midweek, Liverpool are favourites to top the new Champions League table after the initial group games are complete.

And after another dramatic Premier League of Premier League results, his Liverpool side have now REPLACED Manchester City as title favourites with .

Anfield was absolutely buzzing with anticipation for their game with Aston Villa under the lights on Saturday, with the 8pm kick-off coming minutes after they watched City fall to a fourth successive defeat.

Pep Guardiola's men were so dominant in the opening 45 minutes at Brighton and deservedly took in a half-time lead through Erling Haaland.

But there's a softness around City at the moment and the Seagulls exposed it, scoring twice in the second half to claim a huge three points and inflict another loss on the Cityzens.

Liverpool - already two points clear heading into the weekend - had a chance to move five points clear at the top and the supporters were well aware how big an opportunity this was.

As did the players, with Alexis Mac Allister admitting after the game that the players had watched City slip-up during their pre-match preparations.

Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah scored either side of half time for the Reds to overcome Villa, with wild celebrations in the stands at the significance of it all.

Chelsea and Arsenal would then meet on Sunday, looking to close the gap on second place City and keep tabs with the runaway leaders.

However they'd both have to settle for a point in a 1-1 battle, leaving them both NINE points off Liverpool at the top.

Premier League outright odds

Paddy Power

  • Liverpool - 13/10
  • Man City - 9/4
  • Arsenal - 10/3
  • Chelsea - 18/1
  • Man Utd - 80/1
  • Tottenham - 80/1

Liverpool now top the Premier League outright market as the 13/10 favourites, with City drifting out to 9/4.

Arsenal - with two wins in their last seven games against Preston and Shakhtar - are next at 10/3 and the only other side at a single figure price.

Chelsea (18/1), Manchester United and Tottenham (both 80/1) make up the top six in the betting.

A Paddy Power spokesperson said: "Arne Slot's wasted little time getting up to speed at Anfield with nine wins from 11 games.

"And with City stumbling and Arsenal looking off the pace, the Dutchman looks on course to bring league title number 20 to Liverpool."
