WrestleMania XL odds: Preview and betting tips

This weekend, WWE heads to Philadelphia to host WrestleMania XL. The 40th edition of WrestleMania is shaping up to be one of the biggest in the company’s history.

The two-night extravaganza will see the return of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to the ring, the culmination of Cody Rhodes’s rise to the top of the company, and several other huge potential returns. In this WrestleMania XL betting guide, I’m going to take a detailed look at each match on the card, offer my opinions on how they will play out, and see what odds the bookies are offering.

WrestleMania XL’s card is one of the biggest in the company’s history. Let’s take a look at each of the matches and find out how the bookies think they will play out. 

The Rock and Roman Reigns (The Bloodline) vs Cody Rhodes and Seth "Freakin" Rollins

Say what you want about The Rock stealing people’s thunder, but the build to this year’s Mania has been nothing short of fantastic, and he has been the main reason for that. 

Cody’s feud with The Rock almost feels more personal than his one with Reigns. The Rock’s vicious beatdown of Cody on Raw was one of the best moments on TV in a long time, and seeing the two men finally go toe-to-toe in the ring promises to be thrilling. 

The Bloodline winning this match makes the most sense, with ‘Bloodline Rules’ for night two’s main event ensuring plenty of chaos. I can see The Rock picking up the pinfall win in this match, sewing the seeds for a Rock vs Cody match later down the line, as well as the inevitable power struggle and showdown between The Rock and Roman Reigns in the future. Seth "Freakin" Rollins vs Drew McIntyre

Seth Rollins puts his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Drew McIntyre in what will be the new belt’s first appearance on the Grandest Stage of Them All. 

While Seth has been a solid champion, I think it’s time to pull the trigger on Drew on Sunday night. The former WWE Champion has been fantastic recently, and in all honestly, Seth has felt like a bit of an afterthought in much of the Mania build. 

Drew’s rivalry with Punk has been the best thing about this feud, and I think having Drew win at Mania and move into a summer program with Punk is the best way forward. Rollins needs a change after Mania, and having him lose two major matches over the weekend could plant the seeds for what would be an excellent heel turn.

The WWE’s recent announcement of Clash in the Castle in June, which will be held in McIntyre’s home city of Glasgow has seen his odds come in even further. I’m backing Drew McIntyre to win at 1/3 with Paddy Power. Seth Rollins can be found at 15/8.

Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes

The biggest match of the weekend will see Roman Reigns put his WWE Universal Championship on the line against Cody Rhodes in the main event of night two. This is a repeat of last year’s main event, which Roman won thanks to interference from Solo Sikoa. 

The match’s stipulation will be determined by the night one tag-match result, but if it is a Bloodline Rules match, as many, myself included, have predicted, then this will no doubt lead to a crazy amount of run-ins and interferences. 

While I wouldn’t rule out Roman holding onto his belt once again, the bookies and most of the WWE Universe think that it is time to finish Cody’s story at Mania. Outside of a potential Rollins heel-turn, I think the odds are firmly in Cody’s favour. If you want to back Cody Rhodes to win and finish his story, you can do so at 2/9 with Paddy Power. If you think Roman will find a way to overcome Cody once again, you can back him to retain out at 5/2.

Iyo Sky (c) vs. Bayley

If there is one Mania feud that I think has been a bit of a flop, it’s this one. WWE failed to capitalise on Bayley’s Rumble win, and the subsequent Damage CTRL turn felt far too rushed for my liking. 

These two are dynamite in the ring though, and they could right those wrongs quite quickly with a brilliant performance. Of all the matches, the result of this one feels the most locked-in. Iyo Sky’s title reign has been lacklustre for the most part, and Bayley has gone too long without a belt around her waist. 

Bayley is the only one of the Four Horsewomen who feels as though she has never had her Mania moment, and Saturday night is the time to set that straight. I recommend backing Bayley to win at 1/6 with Paddy Power. If you fancy an upset, Io Sky is at 7/2.

Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Becky Lynch

Outside of the WWE title scene, Rhea Ripley might just be the hottest thing in the WWE right now. The Aussie has been on a tear for the last 18 months, and there is no reason to slow that down right now. 

Becky Lynch’s legacy is already well-established, and five years after becoming the first female to win a Mania main event, she should do the business for Rhea in Philadelphia. Future matches between Ripley and the likes of Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill are exciting prospects, and for those to be as big as they could be, the company needs to keep the belt on her this year. I’m backing Rhea Ripley to win at 2/9 with Paddy Power. If you think Becky Lynch will take the belts, she is available at 5/2.

Finn Bálor and Damian Priest (The Judgment Day) vs Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa (#DIY) vs The Miz and R-Truth (The Awesome Truth) vs Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods (The New Day) vs Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate (New Catch Republic) vs A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) 

This match has chaos written all over it. The story heading into this match suggests that Awesome Truth will be taking home the belts this weekend, with R-Truth having been bullied by Judgment Day for the last few months. 

However, the fact that they opted to go with a ladder match instead of a straight-up tag match leaves me with a few questions. Of course, this could be a way to get as many people on the card as possible, with WWE doing something similar at last year’s event. 

Another option is to use the match to split the tag belts. The company has needed to do this for some time now, and the match presents them with an organic way of doing this. Imagine this: R-Truth climbs the ladder, takes down the Raw belts, and leaves, believing he has won the match. This then leaves everyone else to battle it out over the Smackdown titles. Alternatively, you could have two separate teams grab a pair of belts each. 

Whichever way this match plays out, though, I believe Awesome Truth are winning at least one set of belts, and, as such, I will be backing them at 4/6 with Paddy Power to win the match. If you think Judgment Day will find a way to keep their titles, they are the furthest out in the odds at 11/2.

LA Knight vs AJ Styles

LA Knight’s clash with AJ Styles may not be the showcase encounter many fans would have liked him to have, but it will still give him a chance to wrestle one of the best in the business at the Show of Shows. 

While I feel he has cooled off considerably since his run at the back end of 2023, LA Knight is still wildly over and deserves a chance to celebrate in front of a red-hot Mania crowd. A victory for Styles does very little for the former champ, who can very easily move on from a loss. I’m backing LA Knight to win at 2/9 at Paddy Power. If you want to back AJ Styles to win, he is priced at 11/4.

Jey Uso vs Jimmy Uso

It’s fair to say that the feud for Jey Uso vs Jimmy Uso has been a little bit lacklustre, given the huge potential that it had. Jey Uso’s star value is at an all-time high, while his brother still feels a little bit like a glorified lackey. 

Poor build aside, though, these two men are unbelievably talented in the ring, and given the right amount of time, they could tear the house down at the Lincoln Financial Field Stadium. Jey Uso is the favourite to win the match, though I wouldn’t rule out an upset to extend the program. You can back Jey Uso to win at 3/10 with Paddy Power, while his brother is at 11/5.

Logan Paul vs Randy Orton vs Kevin Owens

Most WWE fans have now fully accepted Logan Paul as a full-time WWE superstar, and his performances as US Champion have been brilliant. The YouTuber is a natural in the ring and on the mic, and I think taking the US title off him now, especially given the huge exposure he brings the company, would be foolish. 

Giving Paul a win over two former world champions would be a clear signal of intent from the WWE, and they should pull that trigger at WrestleMania. Kevin Owens and Randy Orton both have a history of turning on people, so seeing those two implode at Mania and Paul take advantage of this is highly likely. You can back Logan Paul to win at 4/6 with Paddy Power. If you want to back a challenger, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton are both available at 5/2.

Gunther vs Sami Zayn 

Many WWE fans, myself included, are disappointed that Chad Gable is not squaring up with Gunther in Philadelphia this weekend. While Sami Zayn is undeniably one of the best performers in the WWE, he is not the man to dethrone The Ring General. 

Gunther’s reign still has some stories to tell. Ilja Dragunov, one of the few men to have defeated Gunther, could soon be on the main roster if he loses his NXT title this weekend, while Bron Breakker is another man who has conquered Gunther that could make serious waves post-Mania. Either way, Sami Zayn should not be the one to defeat Gunther, and that’s why I’m backing Gunther to retain at 4/9 with Paddy Power. Zayn is available to win at 13/8.

Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill & Naomi vs Damage CTRL (Asuka, Kairi Sane & Dakota Kai)

The WWE has been extremely patient with Jade Cargill since signing her from AEW last Summer, and if her first few appearances are anything to go by, they made the right choice. The Former AEW TBS Champion has mega-star written all over her, and she has the chance to cement her status as the future face of the women’s roster in Philadelphia. 

I would love to see a heel turn from Bianca this weekend, with a showdown between the two having massive potential. Whether the WWE will decide to turn one of their biggest merchandise-sellers heel, though, is another question. Regardless, I still expect Bianca, Jade & Naomi to have their hands raised at the weekend. If you want to bet on them to win, they are heavily favoured at 1/8 with Paddy Power. Asuka, Kairi Sane & Dakota Kai are priced at 9/2.

Latino World Order (Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee) vs Santos Escobar & Dominik Mysterio 

The feud between the LWO and Legado Del Fantasma has been brewing for months now, so the late inclusions of Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee in this feud feel a little rushed. WWE clearly has visions of Dragon Lee being the successor to Rey Mysterio’s crown, and this match will give him a chance to showcase that. 

However, Rey scored a pin over his son at last year’s Mania, and I expect Dominik to do the same this year. The late inclusion of Dragon Lee suggests we could have trouble within the LWO, with Carlito rightfully being annoyed at not being included in the match. I will be backing Dominik and Santos Escobar to win at 5/4 with Paddy Power. However, the bookies favour the LWO at 4/7.

The Pride (Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits) vs The Final Testament (Karrion Kross & Authors of Pain) 

Both The Pride and The Final Testament have failed to get over in the way that the WWE has wanted, and I feel like this is both team’s last chance to put that right. Kross, in particular, has struggled since returning to the roster, and while his partnering with AOP had potential, it has very quickly lost steam. 

I suspect the result of this match will tell us which team the WWE has more faith in. Paddy Power has The Pride as the favourites at 4/11, with The Final Testament priced at 15/8.
