With this game, I'm invited to an outing under the sea.
And while some slots are laid out in such a way that it’s hard to find the bet settings, the good thing about Fishin’ Frenzy is that the bet-size control panel is on the right-hand side of the main screen.
That means that it is clearly visible and always present, even as the game plays out. It feels as though the player can be more actively in control of their bet size because of the convenient placement of the bet controller.
For fans of classic slot games, while the look and theme of the game is more recent (taking place underwater with fish, boat and buoy symbols), clicking “Spin” not only start the games, but also starts a retro gaming track that takes the player back to the bricks-and-mortar arcades of the 80s.
The game isn’t the most exciting slot option when it comes to aesthetics. Largely, the imagery is the same as can be seen across multiple fishing slot games. Given that the online gaming world is overrun with fishing-themed games, I’m not sure that Fishin’ Frenzy makes enough effort to stand out and therefore be memorable.
One way that games can really differentiate themselves is through bonus rounds. I managed to spin in three Scatter symbols, which triggered 10 free games. However, with auto-spinning enabled, this felt rushed and over very quickly. That’s a shame, as the sense of novelty and achievement at reaching a bonus round can mean that it’s a highlight of a gaming session. Plus, there’s also an assumption that the payout will be obviously more than if the player were still in the base game. However, I was whizzed through my 10 free spins and came out with little to show for it.
I would say that Fishin’ Frenzy doesn’t represent the catch of the day when it comes to fishing games. The theme of this slot follows a fisherman as he goes fishing in the ocean. The graphics are colourful and follow a 2D cartoon style. The slot background is an underwater view of the ocean with rocks, coral reefs and daylight shining through the water.
