My favourite new betting sites from our partners

Switching up from what you are used is becoming easier every day, as new betting sites pop up all over the UK market. But who can you trust to bring you the same quality you rely on with your current bookie?

To allay your concerns, I will be focusing on what these new bookies have to offer, from the variety of sports on offer, in-play betting, bonuses and safety features. You name it, I'll cover it.

1. PlanetSport Bet

  • Founded: 2021
  • Best new betting site for: Horse racing, football, tennis, sport accas, and greyhound racing
  • Welcome offer: 50% back as a free bet if your first bet loses
  • No. of sports: 25
  • Features: Acca bonuses, live streaming of UK and Irish horse racing, greyhound racing, and bet builder

PlanetSport Bet is trying to revolutionize the landscape of sports betting with its forward-thinking approach and innovative offerings. Recently, they have enlisted soon-to-be champion jumps jockey Harry Cobden to their brand who gives daily thoughts on his upcoming rides - something I haven't seen in many other places.

I was happy to see horse racing fans weren't the only ones catered-to: For their football product, PlanetSport Bet have Robbie Savage and Emma Jones giving you their expert tips, as well as a weekly podcast covering all things football.

All in all, I can safely say that, unlike some of the more established bookmakers, PlanetSport Bet is moving with the times and offering their new and existing customers more than just betting odds.

2. Copybet

  • Founded: 2016
  • Best new betting site for: Football, tennis, horse racing
  • Welcome offer: Bet £10 get £50 in free bets
  • No. of sports: 37
  • Features: Betting tipsters, bet builder, bet builder cash outs, & best odds guaranteed on UK & Irish horse racing

Copybet are making giant strides in the UK sports betting market, and have come a long way in a relatively short time span. As a new customer arriving at Copybet, I was pleased to see a variety of sports available, as well as dedicated tipsters. One of them is jockey Jonathan Burke, and another is the former Newcastle United and Irish footballing legend Shay Given who has come on board as Copybet's latest ambassador.

In line with this, I tested out the delightful feature for automatically adding Copybet's tipster selections into a betslip. Unlike with other bookmakers, you can easily back a tip the moment you hear it. For a bookmaker that hasn't been on the scene that long, they have certainly made their mark.

3. LiveScore Bet

  • Founded: 2020
  • Best new betting site for: Football, horse racing, rugby, NFL, greyhound racing
  • Welcome offer: Bet £10 get £20 in free bets
  • No. of sports: 31
  • Features: Loyalty bonus, live streaming, bet builder, best odds guaranteed on UK & Irish horse racing

An offshoot of a live football score service, LiveScore Bet is the newest branch to the LiveScore family, and what a job they have done branching out!

I was glad to see LiveScore Bet has hit the ground running with an impressive platform offering a variety of sports. I made the most of betting options on football, horse racing, and the NFL, but there is plenty of niche offerings for those so inclined, too.

LiveScore Bet also has a unique promotion that made my time on the site extra fun. ‘Squads’ is a free-to-play game where you get a random player from a selected English Premier team and if that player scores, you can win up to £50.

Established bookmakers will be looking over their shoulder as LiveScoreBet continues to grow in the UK betting market.

4. BetMGM

  • Founded: 2023
  • Best new betting site for: Horse racing, darts, football, & esports
  • Welcome offer: Bet £10 get £40 in free bets
  • No. of sports: 25
  • Features: Loyalty bonus, live streaming, bet builder, best odds guaranteed on UK & Irish horse racing

One of the biggest US sportsbooks has taken the leap over the Atlantic and are now trying to break into the UK betting market, and I for one am happy to welcome them.

With a wealth of experience from the US to call upon, I expected their UK product to at least compare to the tried and tested established UK bookmakers. There were some issues - they've had a rocky introduction to the UK market during the Cheltenham Festival - but BetMGM still has a lot to offer.

I've found that BetMGM has an easy-to-use platform, on both desktop and app, and smooth navigation through their array of sports and betting promotions. With generosity uncharacteristic of the UK's established bookmakers, BetMGM offers you  a chance to win £2,000,000 through their free-to-play Golden Goals promotion.

As of this year, BetMGM have become the title sponsor for the PDC Premier League of Darts, and with that come exclusive darts promotions! I'll be the first to make the most of them come the next World Championship.

5. AK Bets

  • Founded: 2023
  • Best new betting site for: Horse racing & football
  • Welcome offer: 25% winnings boost up to £100
  • No. of sports: 26
  • Features: Sports podcast, live streaming, phone a bet, and bet builder

From a Paddy Power employee to launching AK Bets as an on-course Irish Bookmaker in 2021, Anthony Kaminskas has been impressing me for years now. He's done a great job with AK Bets' online platform as well, since its launch in March 2023.

Even though they are in the early stage of development, AK Bets still showed me some high-level betting experience.

Football and horse racing are AK Bets' most prominent sports, but they're not going with anything too flashy, like some of the established bookmakers. Instead, they're sticking with tried-and-true options, like cash out on selected markets and in-play betting.

It’s hard to compare them to the massive cooperation bookmakers, but given the size and scale of the AK Bets operation, I was fascinated with how far they've come in a short time. But they have what many do not - a dedicated sports podcast where they have had guests such Adrian ‘Jackpot’ Lewis, Stephen ‘The Bullet’ Bunting, Russ Bray and Emma Paton, with special guest host Hugh Cahill taking you through rugby, golf and more.

6. 10bet

  • Founded: 2003
  • Best new betting site for: Football
  • Welcome offer: 50% up to £50
  • No. of sports: 30
  • Features: In-play betting, live streaming, and bet builder

10bet is one of the lesser-known bookmakers in the UK, but they are putting in the work to bring new and existing customers promotions and offers that put them on a level with your well-known bookmakers.

One offer that stood out to me is their ‘£5 free bet if your team fails to score’. This is available on selected football matches, and they also offer various versions of this that might involve over/under goals and more.

Their acca bonus is one that will appeal to you if you like to add multiple games in one bet. I got a 100% bonus on my successful acca, truly a care package if I've ever seen one.

7. BetUK

  • Founded: 2012
  • Best new betting site for: Football, and horse racing
  • Welcome offer: Bet £10 get £30 in Free Bets.
  • No. of sports: 38
  • Features: In-play betting, live streaming, bet builder, best odds guaranteed on UK & Irish horse racing and Greyhound racing.

BetUK, which was founded by some of the industry's veterans, has taken a big step forward this year to take on the bigger firms, with a large investment in brand awareness. But has this translated to their online platform?

Well, I'd say it has - BetUK are now offering some great promotions with their BetUK Specials where you will find enhanced odds and accas.

Their football product is well put-together, with some added extras that you will not find with some more established bookies. And that's on top of their pre and in-play bet builder!

On the topic of football, BetUK gives you a chance to win a share of £100,000 with their free-to-play ‘Select Six’, and I've tried to - but I wasn't lucky enough. You might be, though!

8. Sporting Index

  • Founded: 2019
  • Best new betting site for: Football, horse racing, greyhound racing, rugby league, rugby union
  • Welcome offer: Bet £10 get £20 in Free Bets
  • No. of sports: 23
  • Features: In-play betting, live streaming, bet builder, and spread betting

Sporting Index have been around for two decades, but only launched their fixed-odds side of the brand in 2019.

In my opinion, their horse racing product stands out with the addition of Timeform for all UK and Irish race meetings, but only live streaming selected horse racing meetings.

Their live streaming is not solely for horse racing, ether. I enhanced my time at Sporting Index gives by live streaming other sports like Rugby League, greyhound racing and more.

But, if you are a traditional spread bettor, then you can easily switch from fixed-odds to spread betting in one click. I'd say this makes Sporting Index a great option for every punter.

9. BetGoodwin

  • Founded: 2021
  • Best new betting site for: Horse racing, and football
  • Welcome offer: 50% back as a Free Bet up to £25
  • No. of sports: 29
  • Features: Horse racing offers, best odds guaranteed, live streaming, and bet builder

I think it's a fair assessment to say that BetGoodwin are highly invested in the horse-racing side of their business. For one, they have some of the best horse racing offers I've seen, that even some of the established bookmakers can not match.

For example, you can get up to £100 Free Bet if you are beaten under a length in a chase in the UK and Ireland, up to £100 if beaten a nose in any race in the UK and Ireland, up to £100 Free Bet if falling at the last when in front, and up to £100 Free Bet if 2nd to a 50/1 or bigger!

The horse-racing focus does not stop there, as BetGoodwin have jockeys Hayley Turner and Tom Cannon, horse racing commentator Mike Cattermore, and horse racing trainers Chris Gordon, and Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer Alan King as their ambassadors.

Each has their own page where they give you their opinion on their rides, runner, and over all horse racing opinions.

Away from horse racing, I also made the most of interesting betting options at BetGoodwin in football, rugby, darts, cricket and more. That, along with some of the best horse racing offers out there, makes BetGoodwin a serious new player in the UK betting market.

10. Betzone

  • Founded: 2021
  • Best new betting site for: Horse racing and football
  • Welcome offer: 50% back as a Free Bet up to £60
  • No. of sports: 23
  • Features: Bet builder and in-play betting

I'll start by saying that Betzone is a not thrills bookmaker, but it has some offers that will interest even the most savvy bettor.

I got started on the site in the News Zone, where I found the latest news and tips for an array of sports and their two main promotions ‘Betzone Nose Best’ & ‘ Snore Draw Bonus’.

Betzone Nose Best gives you money back as a free bet up to £10 if you bet a ‘nose’ in any UK and Irish flat race.

Snore Draw Bonus, on the other hand, gives you 10 Free Spins if Betzone's selected game finishes 0-0. Aside from that, I have to say Betzone is a solid but basic choice, which is why it bottoms out this list.

Best UK new betting sites compared

Here, I will give you a quick summary of some of the best UK new betting sites and what they have to offer.

How I picked the best new betting sites

I test every new and licensed UK betting site with a focus on specific areas to ensure every recommendation I make has something to offer discerning sports bettors.

As you read through this guide, I'll elaborate on the features my expertise has taught me that are important. However, before I get into the specifics of what certain new betting sites offer and how you can find your perfect bookmaker, here’s a quick overview of things I take into account:

Licence to operate in the UK

For me, the obvious place to start is to make sure that your chosen new betting site is licensed to operate in the UK.

If I come across a gambling website that is not sanctioned by the UK Gambling Commission, then it is not a trusted new betting site for UK punters.

Range of betting markets

When stepping away from your current bookmaker in favour of something new, you want to see that your next betting site has the variety of betting markets you desire.

I spend a lot of time ensuring that the new UK betting sites I put on this list offer enough betting diversity to make your transition effortless.

Competitive odds

Value is the name of the game when I compare new betting sites in the UK to your tried-and-tested bookies.

I make sure the odds on all markets offer competitive value and an adequate chance for profit on a successful bet for your switch to a new UK betting site.

Live betting and streaming

A must with any new UK betting site, live betting and streaming only add to your betting experience, and if new UK betting sites do not offer this then they will find it hard to pass my in-depth evaluation and put them up as new UK betting site that will satisfy your betting needs.

New feature

When it comes to standing out from the crowd in what is an already overpopulated betting space, new features always represent a big plus in my eyes.

Things like ‘free to play games’, ‘money-back offer’, ‘betting tipster’ and ‘free bets’ are some of the features I look out for when picking out the best new betting sites in the UK.

Sport bonuses and promotions

This is an area that I think is a must when a new betting site in the UK is looking to entice new customers to come and try their product, and I take a lot of time to look into what bonuses and promotions are on offer.

I think you should be rewarded for coming away from your current bookmaker and trying something new.

Variety of secure payment options

With so many payment options out there today, it is only correct the bookmakers make it as easy as possible for you to place a bet.

Having all the main payment options like Visa, PayPal, and now the ever growing Revolut are a must for any new online bookmaker, and I check for all these and more.

Responsible gambling tools

Responsible gambling tools, the most important side of a betting site.

At the top of my list when choosing new betting sites in the UK is which responsible gambling tools are available. All betting sites have a responsibility towards their players to provide as many safeguards against problem gambling as possible, and I make sure to thoroughly check what tools are offered.

It is always important to keep gambling fun, safe and within your realistic means.

Advantages of a new betting site

There are plenty of reasons to try the newest online sports betting sites. Indeed, I've already given you a taste of what some of the leading bookmakers have to offer. However, in the interest of providing an overview of the industry at large, here’s how I figure out which new sites to recommend:

Modern features

It stands to reason that a modern sportsbook would include modern features. What’s a modern feature? It’s hard to give specifics because the pace of innovation in the gambling industry is rapid, so what’s new today might not be in a few months. However, for the sake of this guide, modern features in today’s betting world are live streams, in-play cashouts, animated game overviews, onsite stats databases and embedded media.

Competitive odds and offers

New betting sites in the UK are fighting an uphill battle from the start. Industry veterans such as William Hill have been offering odds for 50+ years. One way to cut through the competition and make an impact is to offer market-leading odds. Complement these odds with bigger-than-average bonus bets, and you’ve got a new sportsbook that stands out in a crowded marketplace.

Mobile-first software

More people are betting on sports via their mobile than ever before. Every top-rated bookmaker in the UK has mobile software capable of running on iPhone, iPad and Android devices. I'd go so far as to say that bookmakers without native mobile apps aren’t worth using.

The added benefit of using new bookmakers is that they’ve been designed for the mobile era. Veteran operators have had to redesign existing platforms that were built when desktop betting ruled. Therefore, if you want the slickest mobile sports betting experience, I suggest trying a new bookmaker.

Extra betting options

The virtual walls that once kept gambling verticals apart have been removed in recent years. Back when online sports betting, casino gaming and poker were first gaining traction, the trend was to keep them separate. Today, customers want the option to move from one vertical to another with little more than a click (or a tap), and the best online casinos deliver that need.

The newest betting sites embrace this philosophy from the start. This means you can play casino games, including slot machines, blackjack and roulette while betting on football. Many of the latest betting sites also offer bingo, lottery draws and poker games

Safety and security as standard

Security standards are higher than they’ve ever been. I'm not saying online betting sites that launched in the early noughties were unsafe, they weren’t. However, with features such as Face ID logins now common among the latest new betting sites, I can say that security has been taken to a new level.

Payment options

At new UK betting sites, users will often find a seamless and convenient experience when it comes to managing their finances. These platforms offer a diverse range of payment methods to cater to various individual preferences. For deposits, users can easily transfer funds using various banking options, including card payments with debit cards such as Visa and Mastercard.

A low minimum deposit requirement ensures accessibility for all players, regardless of their budget. The platform's business-savvy approach extends to withdrawals, where users can effortlessly request their winnings to be transferred to their eligible banking sources. The cash withdrawal process is swift, allowing users to maintain a healthy balance between their gaming and financial activities.

Focusing on user convenience, these new betting sites have streamlined both deposit and withdrawal requests, providing a reliable service and efficient financial framework for their users.

What to avoid on online new betting sites

Here, I'll go through some of the red flags and lack of variety that may arrive with new online betting sites.

From the obvious of not being licensed to poor market coverage, I will tell you what to avoid on new online betting sites.

Lack of licensing and regulation

This is quite a simple one. If you come across an online bookmaker that does not have a license form the UK gambling commission, and is not regulated then avoid at all costs.

If you are unsure when you come across a new online bookmaker then just head over to the Gambling Commission website for more information on your selected bookmaker.

Minimal offer and bonuses

When switching bookmakers to a new online betting site, you want to be rewarded with some kind of sign up offer and promotions.

This will vary with each bookmaker, and of course some will be better than other. But if a new online bookmaker is not trying to grab you attention with a tempting sign up bonus or promotions, then you can be sure that you will be signing up to a bookmaker that lacks the customer side of the business.

I have seen so many come and go over the years and the lack of offers and bonuses has been a big part of it not working out.

Poor market coverage and odds

The lack of betting options should not be an issue with new online bookmakers as there is so much variety to be had at the click of a button.

Bet builders, odds boots and in-play markets are only a few of the must have with bookmakers, and if these can not be matched then you betting experience is going to be compromised.

You should consider other online bookmakers if you are not getting value and a variety of bets and betting markets.

Unclear terms and conditions

Coming across a promotion with unclear terms and conditions is always a red flag.

I would recommend that if you do find yourself in this situation and the T&Cs on offer are not clear then you should contact the bookies Live Chat service to get clear terms and conditions.

If the chosen bookmakers does not have a Live Chat then I would steer clear of the offer/promotion in question.

Negative reviews or reputation

Going through reviews of a new bookmakers can have its pros and cons.

The pros would be that you can see where that bookmakers has fallen from a betting and customer services point of view. But the con is that you will always have someone who has had a bad experience with every bookmaker.

If you see a review where multiple people have had the same bad experience, then I would take that on board when considering that bookmaker.

New betting sites vs established brands

Features that new betting sites are likely to have

With the betting industry evolving week on week, it is important that new betting sites start off in on the front foot, and key features that are available on established sites are a must if new betting sites are to survive.

Below I will cover what I think is the most important features that every new online bookmaker should have.

Live streaming

When you are only a click away from placing you next bet from anywhere in the UK, you want a bookmaker that offers live streaming on all UK and Irish horse racing, as well as greyhound racing.

This is a key feature for any new online bookmaker that is serious about their horse racing product.

Cryptocurrency payment

Crypto has become a main stay in the online betting industry, and with so many bettors now reaching for crypto as their chosen betting currency, it is only a matter of time before every online bookmaker is offering cryptocurrency payments.

As of now, not all offer this feature, but expect it to be rolled out to many of the new online bookmakers soon.

Bet builder

The fast growing, and arguably the most popular bet when it comes football, NFL, rugby and so much more, bet builder is a here to stay.

Having bet builders as a feature for any new online betting site will be what the high percentage of bettors will look for, and without it some may lose potential new customers.

Odds boosts

A lot of operators on my top list are enticing new bettors with some top odds boots on football, horse racing, and more.

Odds boosts add to you betting experience with the added bonus of value on your bet.

Extensive access to leagues and competitions

Not having access to the world biggest leagues and competitions is a massive negative for any new online bookmaker, and if you are thinking of opening a new account with a bookmaker that does not offer betting on the likes of the English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, League 1, Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League, but to name a few, then it is a clear no go for your average football bettor.

Even if your chosen new online bookmaker has the major leagues on offer, be sure to check the depth of their betting range for football before placing a bet, as you should expect the same markets as the established bookmakers.

Payment methods available at new bettor in the UK

When you are signing up to a new online bookmaker, should you have a problem in depositing and withdrawing winnings?

The simple answer is no. Why, because every online bookmaker should be set up to accept all major credit and debit cards as well as e-wallets.

Below I will run through what new online bookmarks should accept as a payment method.

Credit and debit cards

Here is a list of credit and debit cards that new online bookmakers should accept.

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • Visa Debit
  • Revolut
  • Maestro

E-wallets

Having the option of e-wallets give you another option of how to deposit, and below are the most common accepted by new online betting sites.

  • Skrill
  • Neteller
  • PayPal
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay

Prepaid cards

Prepaid cards for online gambling are quickly becoming one of the safest and easiest way to deposit money into betting accounts.

As well as the established bookmakers, new online betting sites now offer their own prepaid cards that come with benefits such as extra rewards and exclusive offers.

Best bonuses to claim at UK sports betting sites

You can expect to find a wide variety of betting offers at the top new betting sites. As I already explained, promotions are one of the main reasons bettors seek out new sites. The desire to impress and stand out from the crowd often pushes new bookmakers to create bonus offers that surpass industry norms. Some of the main deals to look out for are:

Welcome bonuses

These proverbial golden hellos give you a combination of bonus credits, free bets and cashback. Each bookmaker has its preferences, but the point here is that you’ll receive a reward for creating new accounts and making bets.

Cashback bonuses

Losing bets aren’t always losers. Cashback promotions give you money back if your pick falls just short. For example, a bookmaker might give you money back (in bonus credits) if your chosen horse finishes fourth in a race paying the top three.

Odds boosts and profit boosts

New UK online bookmakers like to offer better payouts than their more established competitors. They do this by boosting the odds or adding multipliers to any prize money you win.

Acca insurance

Some sports betting promotions allow you to insure an accumulator. If you didn’t know, accumulators combine multiple picks and roll them up into one single bet. Every pick has to be correct for you to win. However, with the acca insurance, you can afford to have one wrong pick and still get a return on your investment.

Loyalty rewards

Although loyalty rewards are more common in online casino gaming and poker, you can still find them in sports betting. The premise is simple: you earn points each time you place a bet. So, if you play casino games, you’d earn points for wagering money on slot machines, blackjack, roulette et al. For sports betting, you can earn points for outrights, accumulators and other bet types. These points can be used to unlock VIP rewards and extra bonuses.

Tips to bet on new sites

I've given you the lowdown on new betting sites, what they offer and why they’re often a smart choice for bettors wanting slick online experiences. Before you rush off and try my recommended top picks, here are some tips for betting maximum enjoyment each time you go online:

1. It all starts with you

I can give you all the facts and figures, but the decision as to which new betting site is best comes down to your personal preferences. Some people want comprehensive coverage of niche sports, such as darts and curling. Others want generous promotions or specific payment methods, such as Neteller and Skrill. Therefore, you need to sit down and think about what you want before you consider what’s available in the market.

2. Do your research

Once you’ve decided what things you want from a sportsbook, the next step is researching what’s available. I've given you a brief overview of the top new UK betting sites, but I've also got comprehensive reviews. Read them because they’ll give you clear insights into what each bookmaker has in terms of bonuses, features, customer support and betting options.

3. Find fun features

One area that’s worth focusing on when you’re reading reviews is features. Most bookies have odds for the biggest sporting events and it’s not hard to find bonuses. Therefore, if operators want to distinguish themselves from everyone else, they need unique features. These features include things such as live streaming, in-play cashouts, early cashouts and onsite betting tips.

4. Find your niche

Nothing is guaranteed in sports betting, but you stand a better chance of making winning picks if you do some research. For example, if you know Manchester City are on a 10-game winning streak, you can use this information to your advantage. Most people struggle to focus on things they don’t like, so my advice would be to zone in on sports you enjoy.

5. Relax and enjoy yourself

Sports betting should be fun, regardless of whether you’re using new sites or established apps. Don’t spend more than you can afford to lose and stop betting when you’re not having fun. It’s that simple. Treat betting as a form of entertainment and you’ll always enjoy your time online.
