Leeds vs Tottenham betting preview: odds and predictions
LEEDS simply have to beat Tottenham on the final day if they want to stay up – but even that may not be enough.
Leeds vs Tottenham betting preview
Having taken just two points from their last eight games, Leeds look like they’ve given themselves too much to do on the final day.
I say themselves but really that’s incorrect – and that’s the problem.
Even if Leeds do win, they need both Leicester and Everton to drop points (and unless they win by three, they need the Toffees to lose).
To be honest, Spurs at home isn’t the worst fixture they could have given the visitors’ form – they’ve lost five of their last seven and have been beaten in seven of their last nine on the road.
So, while it shouldn’t be ruled out that Leeds do claim their first win since April 4, it seems unlikely it will be enough for a great escape – and juicy bonus for Sam Allardyce.
Without gaining the three points they’ve craved, Leeds have at least shown a bit of fight under Allardyce.
They only lost by one at Manchester City before holding Newcastle to a 2-2 draw last time out at Elland Road. Last week they led early on at West Ham but folded in the second half.

They’ve missed the injured duo of Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra and while they still carry a goal threat through the likes of Rodrigo, the former’s absence has only worsened their defensive frailty – they are the owners of the Premier League’s worst defence.
The good news is Spurs’ form, yet the bad news is that this match still means something to them – a spot in Europe remains up for grabs but the visitors are guaranteed to miss out if they lose.
That said, recent performances suggest Spurs might not be that bothered about booking a Conference League berth. After all, those extra games have the potential to weigh down whoever eventual takes over as manager in N17.
The one player who certainly hasn’t given up though is Harry Kane – his goalscoring form ensures he once again features among our best bets. Read on to check them out…
Leeds vs Tottenham key stats
- Leeds have a poor home record against Spurs – they’ve lost eight of the last 10 league meetings of the sides at Elland Road, winning just one.

- Harry Kane has scored in 25 of his 37 Premier League games this season – a record for a 38-game campaign. He also netted in his last five final-day games.
- Both teams to score has landed in Leeds’ last 12 games and 10 of Spurs’ last 11.
- Leeds have to win this match to stand any chance of Premier League survival but they’ve been victorious only once against teams in the top half this season (Liverpool A).
Leeds vs Tottenham best bets
Spurs to win from behind
Leeds have dropped more points (25) from leading positions than any other Premier League side this season and it’s not hard to envisage them doing so again.
They have to win so expect a committed, front-foot start in front of a vociferous Elland Road crowd.
However, it will all be in vain if Everton or Leicester win so if either of those sides get two up, there could easily be a drop-off as reality bites.
Only Palace and Arsenal have won more points from behind than Spurs so plenty fits for this tastily-priced bet.
Harry Kane anytime scorer
The England captain has now scored in 11 of his last 13 games and one suspects he’ll be determined to bag another here given this could be his final match for the club.
There’s also his final-day record to consider – Kane has found the net in his last five matches on the last day of the season. He’s not one for easing up.
Given his form, Kane should be relishing facing the worst defence in the league – Leeds have given up exactly two goals per game so far.
Over 4.5 goals
Again, Leeds have to attack but if things start to go wrong, it’s not hard to see a collapse – Spurs remain a good side on the break and will punish over-commitment which may be required given the hosts’ situation.
It’s worth remembering Palace trailed 1-0 here not so long ago and ended up winning 5-1.
Spurs are on a wild run of goal-filled games on the final day of the season – their last seven makes-ups have been 5-6-2-4-9-8-6.
If they do click, a carefree attitude could deliver here.
