Bournemouth vs Manchester United betting preview: odds and predictions
MANCHESTER United still have work to do to secure a top-four finish but they will be confident of beating a Bournemouth side with little left to play for.
Bournemouth vs Manchester United betting preview
This looks a classic example of a team with nothing to play for against one with plenty at stake.
The hosts effectively secured their Premier League safety a couple of weeks ago and have since lost at home to Chelsea and away to Crystal Palace, on each occasion by two clear goals. It’s difficult to see what will motivate them here.
United, on the other hand, are desperate for points as they bid to nail down a place in next season’s Champions League.
It looked all-but-certain a few weeks ago but a series of stumbles, coupled with Liverpool turning up the heat with a winning run, means the race could well go to the final week of the season.

If United fail to win here, it will likely go to the final day.
Their away form is a cause for concern – they’ve lost more than they’ve won this season – but they’ve been pretty solid against the teams towards the foot of the table (see below).
The circumstances of the two sides make United likely winners, although how many people will want to pile into them at around 4/9 is open to question.
It may well be worth looking at bigger prices which is the route taken in the tips below, while there’s also a 10/3 card bet which has landed in four of the player’s last 10 games.
Bournemouth vs Manchester United key stats
- United are 13-4-1 this season against the teams currently in the bottom half of the table.
- In the five games between the sides at Dean Court since Bournemouth were first promoted to the Premier League in 2015, there have been two home wins and three away victories.
- United have won just two of their last seven games in all competitions.
- Bournemouth have conceded 36 goals in their 13 games against the current top seven, scoring only 11.
- Man Utd hope to have top scorer Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay available for this one but Marcel Sabitzer has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Bournemouth vs Manchester United best bets
Bruno Fernandes 3+ shots
Despite having secured safety, Bournemouth have conceded more shots than any other side in this season’s Premier League.
It therefore makes sense to turn to United’s form man for shots and that’s Fernandes.
He’s landed this bet in six of his last nine games and given the opposition – and the fact his side are desperate for a win and the Cherries aren’t – a price of 4/5 about a repeat looks well worth taking.
Jefferson Lerma to be carded
Lerma has slowed down on the card front a bit this season, receiving ‘only’ seven, but four of those have come in the last 10 games and at 10/3, he’s tempting here.
Fernandes, United’s most-fouled player, will be a key man in his area of the pitch, while there look sure to be battles with Casemiro in the midfield too.
Admittedly the choice of referee (Chris Kavanagh) could be better but, at the price, this looks worth a try.
Man Utd to score 3+ goals
It’s hard to see what the motivation levels are for the hosts here and United should win.
Yet the visitors’ away record has been disappointing of late and backing them at a considerably odds-on lacks value.
A better way of siding with them is in the goals markets – Bournemouth have conceded 3+ in seven of their 13 games against the top seven this season and having little at stake may struggle if they fall behind early.
