Ed Southgate
Ed is a general news reporter for The Sun. He has covered high profile court cases including the murder of Sara Sharif; the trial of Constance Marten and Mark Gordon; family court proceedings deciding how much footballer Kyle Walker should pay in maintenance for his two love children with Lauryn Goodman; and Huw Edwards' sentencing for child sex crimes. He published the only interview with Sara Sharif's birth mum after the guilty verdicts and helped overturn a ruling which banned journalists from naming the family court judges involved with the ten-year-old. He also spent several days in Greece during the search for missing TV doctor Michael Mosley, and wrote about being among those who found him. He covered the Princess of Wales' Christmas carol service from Westminster Abbey; revealed Prince Harry's tearful and lonely vigil on the first anniversary of the late Queen's death; and tracked down an OnlyFans model who targeted the Princess of Wales' parents in a poster campaign. He has also exposed a Love Island contestant dumping her ex days before going on the show, and found the mum who returned Sir Paul McCartney's long lost guitar. Ed joined The Sun in February 2020, after graduating from the University of Bristol. Contact [email protected]
