It’s Kentucky Flied Chicken

EXCLUSIVE: Girl lifts lid on takeaway chain

THE teenage star of a documentary series on KFC has told of life in the fast food chain.

Beth Spibey said cooked chicken would sit for three hours then be sold just before it had to be binned.

Rotting chicken lay under the counter display and flies crawled round ketchup pots.

Beth, 19, said staff were under constant pressure to sell more and added: “We would be monitored on our performance every shift.”

Beth worked for KFC for 18 months and was filmed by the BBC for The Billion Dollar Chicken Shop.

Describing working at the branch in Denton Rock, Manchester, she said: “When it got near the time the chicken was due to be scrapped we were encouraged to urge customers to add extra food.

“Sometimes with a 20 per cent discount.”

Beth said staff had to sing Happy Birthday twice while washing their hands to make sure they did it properly.

She added: “The back of the fries stand would collect grease, some of it was liquid and some solid.”

Some customers such as Corrie star Samia Ghadie were lovely to staff but others could turn nasty.

One smeared poo on the wall of the toilets, another punched the manager and a third was so rude Beth flung his change in his face.

However she said she had no regrets about working at the chain or appearing on the show, adding: “It has opened up doors I never imagined.”

Her mum Jane, 49, said: “I’m very proud of her for showing what it’s really like at KFC.” KFC made no comment.
