SELF-CONFESSED sex addict Russell Brand has revealed he has fewer romps now he
is married — but has more time for GARDENING.
The notorious ladies man, who claims he has bedded five girls in a day, said
his pop star wife Katy Perry has calmed him down.
The comedian, 35, said: “I can’t believe I used to have sex 20 times a week,
especially now I’m married. But now I’m a bloody good gardener.”
Russell, who wed Katy five months ago, also spoke of the tough parts of being
hitched — such as his beloved’s mess.
He said: “It’s difficult getting used to one person and being in the same
house every day.
“See, if she leaves stuff lying around I have to deal with it.
“And if I leave stuff on the floor I have to pick it up. That confuses me.
“And she takes ages to get ready. It’s unbelievable. I had no idea what went
on, I was never normally around for that bit.”
Russell spoke of his feelings in an interview for Piers Morgan’s Life Stories
ITV show.
The shaggy-haired comic, who beat a booze and heroin habit, was asked if he
thought he could manage not to sleep with another woman for the rest of his
life.
He replied: “I take it one step at a time — like with drugs, like with
alcohol.
“Don’t look at things as in ‘rest of life’. Of course marriage is for life and
that’s what I wanted but anything for the rest of life can be daunting.”
Russell denied rumours he and I Kissed A Girl singer Katy, 26, were getting
professional help to save their relationship.
He said: “It’s not true we see a marriage counsellor. I don’t know where that
story came from. We don’t pay any attention.”
The Tempest film star insisted life with Katy was “normal”, adding: “We do
spend quite a lot of time together.
“I see her a lot, that’s what marriage is, you like it or lump it. She’s
always around.”
He went on: “I’ve never been in love before Katy, as now I rate love as being
willing to change for someone.
“What it boils down to is us two in a room somewhere, we chit chat, and it’s
normal, with love and support.”
Russell also revealed he and Katy would like to start a family in the future,
saying: “Yeah children, that’d be good, wouldn’t it?
“We haven’t been married very long, we’re both working very hard and I’m still
excited and enchanted by her but when we do I’m going to focus on it.”
He conceded his wild past would undermine his authority whenever his kids were
naughty — quipping: “I’m aware I have no recourse if they misbehave.
‘Expelled from school for drugs? Well done, you’re on target.’”
Russell also discussed his obsession with sex — admitting: “My peak was
probably five a day. It was a bit much. I was always respectful though.”
He told Katy of his womanising after they fell for each other at 2009’s MTV
Video Music Awards in New York.
He said: “I don’t think she knew the extremes of it because I wasn’t famous in
America.
“I told her like an idiot, as I was so dazzled by the change.
“So I had to tell her, ‘Look at what I’m not doing.’ Yeah, she was shocked but
she’s a pretty solid person.”
Piers Morgan’s Life Stories with Russell Brand is on ITV1 next month.
