Caroline Flack ‘devastated’ by X Factor axe – because she thought her and Olly Murs ‘did a good job’

The blonde fronted the last series of the reality show alongside singer Olly Murs

CAROLINE Flack has been left ‘devastated’ and embarrassed after losing her X
Factor presenting role after just ONE series.

The bubbly blonde fronted the latest season of the ITV talent show alongside
pal and singer Olly Murs but the Sun revealed she had her marching orders
from music mogul Simon Cowell last week.

After just a year in the role The Sun revealed she was booted out of the
presenting role on the same day as Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw walked away
from his job on the judging panel.

Her co-host Olly, a former contestant on the Saturday night ITV show, then
sensationally quit after saying his ‘heart belongs to music’.

Since the dust has settled the 36-year-old has been cut up about stepping down
from her prime time presenting spot.

An insider said: “Caroline’s devastated – she really loved that show.

“She loved working with Olly and thought they did a good job despite what
everyone said.

“She can’t believe that she won’t be going back.”

It was a second blow for the ex Strictly star who lost her spot as Xtra Factor
host just two years ago.

Last week she confirmed her exit with a statement which said: Caroline said: “I
have had a brilliant time working on The X Factor over the last few years
and hosting the main show was just fantastic – I made some amazing friends.

“I’m looking forward to carrying on working with the team over at ITV.”

The insider added Caroline had been left ‘really embarrassed’.

The presenting pals had taken over from Irish heart-throb Dermot O’Leary for
the 2015 series.

Though a combination of technical glitches during live shows and clangers,
when Olly announced the wrong contestant was going home, made the pair a
target for criticism.

Nick Grimshaw and Caroline Flack have been axed from The X Factor. Thank God for that! Now if they’d just get rid of Rita Ora as well.

X Factor fan Daz Gale seemed impressed with the re-vamp of the presenting and
judging panel.

He wrote on Twitter: “Nick Grimshaw and Caroline Flack have been axed
from The X Factor. Thank God for that! Now if they’d just get rid of Rita
Ora as well.”

Caroline will still be on screens in summer when Love Island returns to ITV2.

She already seems excited about her new role and posted a teaser promotional
shot to Instagram with the caption: “Happy valentines folks … It’s
gonna be a long … Hot … Summer.”
