Rumer was the one for Ricky

Former Hollyoaks heart-throb reveals what caused break up

RICKY WHITTLE was ready to settle down with Rumer Willis.

The former Hollyoaks star, who moved to Hollywood three years ago, hooked up with Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’s daughter in May last year.

But by October the romance with Rumer was over following cryptic tweets from Ricky including: “It’s better to have your heart broken by walking away than to have it break daily waiting for things to get better.”

Now, speaking to TV Biz about the end of a serious relationship last year, Ricky reveals it was a case of right girl, wrong time.

He says: “Last year I was seeing someone and I wasn’t ready to take the relationship to the next level.

“The person was incredible in every way – but I just wasn’t ready, I was focused on work.

“It’s never nice to tell a good person that you’re not ready yet.

“It’s one of those right person, wrong time kind of scenarios.”

Ricky who played cop Calvin Valentine in the Channel 4 soap for four years, made his Hollywood TV breakthrough in post-apocalyptic drama The 100.

He has also won many female admirers for his raunchy role as FBI agent Daniel Zamora in Mistresses, where he has steamy encounters with co-star Rochelle Aytes.

Those sex scenes played havoc with Ricky’s real-life romance.

He says: “The fact that my love interest in Mistresses, Rochelle Aytes, and Marie Avgeropoulos in The 100 are beautiful, great girls who can be quite intimidating, I guess for some people it’s tough.”

Ricky, who is still single, says: “Life’s too short to be tied down to the wrong person.

“If you can love the wrong person – then how great are you going to feel when you love the right one?”
