BENEFITS Street star White Dee will star in the next series of Celebrity Big Brother – putting an end to her life on state handouts.
The unemployed mum, who became the most talked about character in the hit Channel 4 documentary series which ends tomorrow night, will pocket a minimum fee of £60,000 for her stint in May.
Ballsy Dee — real name Deidre Kelly — says she is on benefits because she is unable to work due to depression.
Brummie Dee. right, is also being assessed for bipolar disorder.
A source said: “Channel 5 bosses were desperate to sign up Dee. They think she will be brilliant.
“But the move is definitely a controversial one because anyone who is claiming benefits can only do so legally if they are not working. Dee will be earning money in one of the most public ways possible. So unless she stops collecting her benefits, her actions will interest the authorities.
“Her behaviour on Benefits Street has made it very clear that she has a good knowledge of the welfare system and she will definitely know the rules.”
Dee proclaimed herself the “mother of the street” on which the C4 series was filmed, and she was seen using her benefits know-how to help her neighbours.
She also featured on a Channel 5 debate about the benefits system, and declared: “I just hope I’m off benefits sooner rather than later, it’s all personal circumstances.
“I don’t want to be on benefits forever.”
