DEVASTATED Dannii Minogue has split from the dad of her little son after
months of blazing rows.
The break-up of the former X Factor judge, 40, and model Kris Smith, 33, comes
20 months after the birth of toddler Ethan.
The pair finally broke up after a series of bust-ups spanning nearly a year,
and a
trial separation.
A friend of Dannii said: “She is utterly distraught that her dreams have come
crashing down around her.”
Dannii and Kris, a former rugby league star who has played for Halifax and
Leeds, were together for four years.
The pal added: “They used to talk about marriage and the future but recently
it was all just bad vibes and blazing rows.
“Dannii fought really hard to keep the family together for the sake of Ethan
but her efforts haven’t worked.”
Aussie DANNII, who is recovering from a thyroid condition, moved back
to Melbourne from her adopted home of London to set up a family base Down
Under. She is now a judge on Australia’s Got Talent.
Brit KRIS is a model for leading Aussie department store chain Myer and
has also become a sought-after TV personality in Oz. The friend said Dannii
is “upset and angry” at putting her career on the back burner to support his
rise.
The pal added: “Dannii had to turn down X Factor because she wanted to build
the family in Oz, where Kris was starting to get noticed. “He gave her all
this rubbish about her being ‘the one’.”
There is no suggestion of cheating on either side. But Kris set tongues
wagging last year when he was pictured flirting with Australia’s ex-Miss
Universe Jennifer Hawkins.
Dannii and Kris have posted a series of cryptic tweets about their
relationship, below
Early today Dannii tweeted: “We still care for each other & ask for
privacy at this difficult time, in particular for our son Ethan who remains
our number one priority.”
And Kris tweeted: “Dannii and I have a deep mutual love and respect for each
other.”
