EMBARRASSED Ed Miliband had admitted that his bacon sandwich disaster photo
has gone viral around the world.
The Labour leader, who was snapped awkwardly tackling the breakfast sarnie
during a visit to Covent Garden Flower Market in London, played up to his
“special relationship” with food.
Speaking at a dinner for political journalists he gave a nod to the way the
incident was covered around the world, adding that the photos “apparently
haven’t yet reached some yak farmers in Nepal.”
In the snap, taken last May, Mr Miliband was shown getting his teeth around
the bacon roll with ketchup all over his fingers.
The party leader also compared himself to film star George Clooney during his
speech.
He said: “Now I don’t know if you heard, but we did recently get to dine with
the Clooneys. And she [his wife Justine Thornton] got to sit next to George.
“Now I kind of know what you’re thinking, me and George Clooney. One’s an
international sex symbol and the other was the star of Ocean’s Eleven.”
Poking fun at former Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Mr Miliband quipped: “I once
got locked in a house, which I’m afraid is a true story, when I was supposed
to be going to a meeting with Gordon Brown.
“Eventually I escaped through a window.
“I therefore made history as the first person ever to make a break for freedom
to get closer to Gordon Brown.”
