Rape joke comic heading for CBB

EXCLUSIVE: Axed Dapper bids to revive TV career

CONTROVERSIAL comic Daniel O’Reilly, aka Dapper Laughs, is hoping to resurrect his career – on CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER.

ITV2 axed his Dapper Laughs: On The Pull show last year after he was filmed telling jokes about sexual assault during a live stage performance.

But he has discussed making his telly comeback on CBB with Channel 5.

An insider said: “Daniel has held talks with bosses about joining Big Brother in the summer.

“Producers think he would be a big character and it would be good for him to reveal his true self after all the controversy.”

O’Reilly found himself at the centre of a media storm over his Dapper Laughs stage show.

In a shocking performance caught on video, he told a member of his audience that she was “gagging for a rape”.

As part of the act, he denied his On The Pull show was a “guide for rapists”.

He said: “If it was a guide to rape, I would have done one five-minute episode, I’d come on and go, ‘Oi oi, I’m Dapper Laughs, go down the shops, get some rope, bit of duct tape, rape the bitch, well done, see you later’.”

He then pointed out an audience member, adding: “She’s gagging for a rape. Yep, we’ll have a chat afterwards. Do you want to come backstage after? Bring two of your mates, you’ll need them.”

The footage went viral and ITV announced it was not renewing his deal.

O’Reilly later appeared on Newsnight where he declared he was killing off his character.

He said: “It was a type of comedy that I should not have been doing. Dapper Laughs is gone.”

But a month later he released a YouTube video hinting at a comeback.

CBB bosses are planning a “UK versus USA” theme for this summer’s show and have already signed original supermodel Janice Dickinson to appear.
