Riots on the streets of Argentina after World Cup final loss

DEVASTATED Argentina fans rioted on the streets last night after their 1-0
World Cup final loss to Germany.

Police fired tear gas, water cannons and rubber bullets to stop supporters who
were hurling rocks and destroying store fronts in the capital Buenos Aires.

Parents with small children could be seen fleeing while more than 20 police
officers were injured in the attacks.

Fan Soledad Canelas, 19, said: “I feel an enormous sadness. I had the illusion
of seeing Argentina become champion for the first time in my life.”

At least 60 people have been arrested across the country despite the national
team having its best World Cup in 24 years.

In San Miguel — northwest of Buenos Aries – youths clashed with riot police
and five were detained.
