A COUPLE bought a £10 Beanie Baby at a car boot sale — then found it was the world’s rarest version, worth up to £62,500.
Leah Rogers and Ryan Flanaghan were selling toys when they saw the Princess Diana memorial teddy on a nearby stall.
Ryan, 22, once collected the bean-filled bears and knew some editions were very rare so he went and bought the purple toy.
When he got home he checked online and realised the bear was a collector’s dream — made in Indonesia with special pellets and wording on the tag.
Fewer than 100 were made and fans say they have sold on eBay for £20,000 with one now on sale at £62,500.
Builder Ryan and beauty therapist Leah, 20, hope to sell the bear and put the cash towards a deposit for a house.
Leah, of Launceston, Cornwall, said: “I can’t believe it really. We did some research and people go crazy for this bear. This could be a life-changer for us.
“We are going to put it up for auction later this year. We are keeping it in a very safe place.”
A spokesman for Beanie fan club Ty Collector said only a handful of people know how many Princess Bears were produced.
